If at first you don't succeed, try harder

Earlier this year a boy from the neighbourhood tried to sell us the Sunday newspaper. He rang the doorbell and waited. Typically we were having (late) breakfast with the family. The first time it happened, I opened the door and politely declined to buy newspapers from him. Following Sunday he rang again. I opened the door and said that, no, we were not interested in buying. One week later we were having a Sunday breakfast again. And again, we could see the newspaper boy walk from door to door and approach our house. He rang the doorbell. I decided to continue my breakfast. Half a minute later he rang the doorbell again. I got up, opened the door, and said, no, we were still not interested in buying. He walked away and has since not tried again.
