I traveled to Finse this week to attend the annual FRISC Finse winter school in information security. On Wednesday morning, it started to snow, and since Finse is 1,200m above sea level, the snow did not vanish on my way to the seminar. I took the bus from Gjøvik, connected in Fagernes, crossed Tonsåsen und caught a train in Gol. At this time of the year, Finse is only accessible by train, skis or helicopter.
We had a good mixture of invited lecturers this year. Brenda Larcom, working as a consultant for BishopFox, even came all the way from Montana to speak to us on security requirements. Impressing. Tor Helleseth managed the organisation as well as always. And we had fifteen COINS students registered for the winter school. Participants contributed with talks in the afternoon and after dinner, and discussions continued until well past midnight.
