One of my proposals was selected to receive support from HTWG Konstanz in the „Research-Based Learning“ project.
As an enhancement to my lecture Software Security we will prepare for and take part in two Capture the flag (CTF) competitions. Preparation will be supported by a student assistant. The first competition will be offense/defense style, the second one will be task-based/jeopardy style. Participation in the competitions will act as a motivating factor to dig deeper in software security issues, and will encourage students to read on past vulnerabilities, exploits, fixes, and techniques.
